As a Paramedic II I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of an Advanced Life Support transporting ambulance. Also, as a PII, I was responsible for the hands-on EMT basic skills training of all the 17 firefighter/EMT's at my assigned station. I would also precept and supervise new paramedics during their paramedic school phase II ride times, and provide QA/QI on their run reports and overall performance. For the last 10 years, I served as a tactical paramedic with the Madison Police Department SWAT team, spending the last 2 as a platoon supervisor. I provided tactical medical care for the SWAT team during high-risk search warrants and other dynamic incidents. For the last 5 years I have been a rescue diver with the Lake Rescue Dive Team.Over 3 years and 5 Firefighter/EMT/Hazmat/Driver Operator Fire Academies, I was assigned to the Fire Training Division as a full time Fire/EMS Training Officer. I was responsible for training and teaching fire, EMS, hazmat, and driver operation to approximately 20 recruits at a time. This included but was not limited to lesson planning, lecturing, hands-on skill demonstration, general safety on the training grounds and day-to-day discipline of the recruits. In the absence of an ongoing Fire Academy, I was responsible for delivering fire and EMS-related training to the 340 front line firefighters and paramedics employed by the City at the time. I had similar duties when I was tasked with being a Lead Instructor for Madison Fire Department EMT Basic academies on two occasions, in conjunction with MATC Madison.Primarily responsible for delivering skills and hands-on training to MATC paramedic, EMT Basic, and Advanced EMT students, dealing with all skill aspects of their respected courses. I act as a High Fidelity Sim Man operator and debriefer, responsible for planning and implementing case scenarios and providing beneficial debriefing sessions to students.
