Waterfowl and Wetlands Biologist Assistant. I worked with the infamous Dr. Gary Costanzo. Dr. Costanzo leads the East Coast Flyway Zone for migratory waterfowl. He is truly the Authority on Waterfowl and Migratory species for the East Coast of the US. I extremely valued and learned a tremendous amount working for him for 4 plus years at VDGIF. Dr. Costanzo is a humble man, but is a tremendous mentor and teacher. I still consider him like a family member. I gained valuable experience trapping, banding, recording, monitoring a variety of waterfowl species. Primary studies were performed on Wood Ducks, The American Black Duck, Canada Geese (Residential and Migratory populations) and Tundra Swans. I gained untold experience working with boating equipment ( motor boats, air boats and canoes), rocket netting, net guns, simple trapping to complex trapping, species aging and gender identification ( by wing, visual and dissection)and overall knowledge about migration, population, distribution and overall density of waterfowl species.
