I lead an oceanographic research group consisting of graduate students, undergraduate students, and postdoctoral scholars studying diverse topics across oceanography, glaciology, and coastal dynamics. I design and run collaborative research projects with international scope, bringing in >$2.6M in external funding. In addition to teaching courses, prepping for field work, conducting numerical simulations of coupled ice-ocean systems, and spending time at sea, I have received the following accolades: o Granted indefinite tenure in September 2017o Recipient of the Fund for Faculty Excellence Award, 2019o Selected for university-wide Leadership Academy, 2019–2020o Awarded NSF CAREER grant in 2015Currently, I am a Dean’s Fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences and Assistant Department Head of Earth Sciences. I am organizing a new major for the university focused on Coastal and Marine Studies and actively participate as a core faculty member in the Environmental Studies Program.

Program Director in the Antarctic Sciences section, part of the Office of Polar Programs at the National Science Foundation.

Led the development of a water quality module for a new planning tool to quantify marine ecosystem services (InVEST), alongside a Stanford team called the Natural Capital Project.

Created the first high-resolution circulation maps for Puget Sound, setting the stage for LiveOcean, which now provides real-time ocean forecasts for Puget Sound and the Salish Sea region of temperature, salinity, oxygen, and productivity.

Aided rural volunteers in obtaining resources, funding, and volunteers from my post at a local non-profit in the capital city of Kingston.
