After previous stints as National Throws Coordinator, National Coach for Discus and Javelin and as Head of Strength and Conditioning for all National throwing squads, I am currently Performance Lead for all Field-Events (Jumps, Throws and Combined Events).This role has the responsibility of overall development of high-performance field-events athletes in Ireland, and also assisting with the development of coaches in each event group area and helping emerging talent to progress in their specific event.This is a very exciting role dealing with the emerging talent in Irish athletics from schools level to senior international representatives.The last number of years have seen a major upsurge in athletics participation and the emergence of significant talent at underage level along with consolidation of performances in all events at senior level. The future is very promising but will require huge efforts and co-operation from the athletics community to develop this athletic talent and coaching talent so that Ireland can compete at a higher International level.

This role is part of a partnership between Athletics Ireland and Dublin City University. The aim is to develop hubs of expertise where coaching is brought together with pools of emerging high performance athletes in quality environments with elite facilities.
