I visited Avelair as a Recruiter earlier in 2016 as I was invited in to help the business source technical staff for the production facility. It’s an impressive set up, being the only British Manufacturer of Rotary Screw Air Compressors, selling both to end user’s locally and limited access to a distributor network Nationally. After my initial visit, I was invited back in by the MD who subsequently offered me the position of National Sales Manager. My role was to identify and set up new distributors throughout the UK, some weeks travelling up to 1,500 miles to win business. In my second year working within direct sales in Essex.

I was recruited to join Prime Appointments in the April of 2011 to develop the Technical Temporary Division based in Sudbury, Suffolk. When I joined the desk it was running at 800GP per week, by Christmas of that same year, I had recruited another team member to join me and we were running at 4000GP per week.The team grew to four members, all of them with no prior recruitment experience when they joined. I developed a full training program for the first 4 weeks of joining, covering all aspects of the industry and the business as a whole. The division turned over way in excess of 1.3 Million per year, returning nearly 400,000 profit, this included two recent new starters on the division, who had each brought in about 60,000 each up until that point.

I was offered an opportunity to join Masstemps and develop my own Driving Division from scratch. This was hard work but paid off pretty quickly. I hit the phones hard, managed to get some client meetings in the diary and soon enough, bookings came in. I had to manage the temporary staff and bookings 24 hours a day, often getting calls at 2am to fill shifts.Towards the end of my time at Masstemps, I had won some large contracts, all of which were large general haulage and refrigerated logistics clients, using me daily for all of their requirements.

After working internally for Park Lane Global for 5 years, I travelled to Malaysia in July 2001 with the task of administering and overseeing the development of a new manufacturing plant in the Oil & Gas sector, financed by our office in the UK. Expectations upon me were to gain regional licenses allowing us to manufacture in Malaysia and also a license to sell into the market called a Petronas License, something that is very coveted in the industry. I had to find appropriate premises, staff and expedite the delivery and fitting out of new machinery as this where the major funds were spent.There was a great deal of time and money invested in me, housing, work permits etc so it was a monumental priority of mine to see the project through with as few problems as possible. Malaysia was a very demanding and challenging environment to live and work but it was a valuable learning experience that brought outstanding results.
