Evaluate risks for area of responsibility, including all regulatory functions impacting the retail industry, including, but not limited to OSHA, Environmental, Food Safety, Pharmacy, Fire Code, Product Quality, and ATF. Analyze a large volume of weekly reports generated by direct reports, third parties, and compliance discipline owners to assess level of risk / exposure to federal, state, and local laws, and prioritize and delegate needs to direct reports. Implemented heat mapping strategy for area of responsibility that evaluated internal and external compliance factors such as audit results, regulatory visit performance, environmental; color coded stores based on their likelihood to perform poorly in compliance-important functions, which focused team in stores which would have the greatest impact, resulting in a 10% impact in overall compliance over the previous year. Drove development of project “Deep Clean” to drive down regulatory issues concerning cleanliness of food safety areas; currently tracking down 140% in regulatory exceptions related to cleanliness in food areas. Project Right Start developed company wide training and auditing initiative to ensure new stores opened compliant and that associates understood their responsibilities; trained associates prior to opening and led a follow up audit 90 days after opening; training and execution plans were put into place to resolve any identified gaps.
