David began his run in January of 2020 because of the urgency but lack of action on climate change and the economic struggles of Vermonters.Through the years David has listened to many Vermonters as they have shared their struggles and he has observed well-intentioned leaders trying to find solutions. But these last three years we have not seen the vision or action that Vermonters need. The coronavirus pandemic has only amplified this reality and has made it even more evident that Vermont needs a proactive leader that will put Vermont’s people, their safety, and their future first. David is running because Vermonters need an economy with jobs that pay enough for workers to support themselves and their families. He is running because it is imperative that Vermonters listen to youth and commit ourselves to fighting the climate crisis in a way that builds economic opportunity and ensures a healthy future for all. He is running because health care access desperately must be expanded while bringing costs under control especially as the coronavirus has laid bare so many deficiencies in our system. He is running because, now more than ever, Vermonters need more affordable housing. He is running because Vermont college and training school students should be able to access free in-state tuition. Finally, he is running because it is important that we ensure all Vermonters are welcome. Those who are indigenous, those who were born here, and those who have chosen to be here, will all be part of our vibrant and inclusive future in Vermont.

David is honored to serve Vermonters as Vermont’s 80th Lieutenant Governor. As a small business owner, farmer, former Legislator, husband, and father, David is working with all Vermonters to ensure our state remains a viable, beautiful, and safe place to live.

David served in the Vermont Senate from 2012 to his election as Lieutenant Governor in 2016. He was the vice-chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, bringing his experience both as a legislator and a farmer to discussions about the future of Vermont agriculture.

Having farmed in Burlington’s Intervale for 10 years, David and Rachel bought their own farm in Hinesburg, VT, in 2011 with the help of the Vermont Land Trust, the Hinesburg Land Trust, The Trust for Public Land, and the Castanea Foundation.Full Moon Farm Inc. is a VOF-certified, successful, organic farm, run by us, the husband and wife team of David Zuckerman and Rachel Nevitt. Located in Hinesburg, Vermont, we grow 25 acres of diversified organic vegetables and raise certified organic pigs, chickens, eggs, and CBD, which we sell through our CSA and the Burlington Farmers Markets. Full Moon Farm is the only certified vegetable, meat, egg, CBD, and flower CSA in Chittenden County.

David served for 14 years in the Vermont House of Representatives representing the City of Burlington in Chittenden 3-4. He served four years at the Chair of the Agriculture Committee, for a total of six years on the committee, on the Natural Resources and Energy Committee for six years, and the Ways and Means Committee for two years. Throughout his 14 years of service, David focused on many of the issues that were close to his heart: farming and agriculture issues, climate change, the legalization of same-sex marriage, death with dignity, GMO labeling, and much more.
