CurrentIn this role it was clear with the existing and forecasted growth, the QAD Cloud offering needed to evolve to better support automation and multi-tenancy wherever possible. Becoming part of the R&D team gave me the opportunity to really explore new technologies. I have also been part of the architecting/development of The QAD Cloud monitoring solution to include installation, configuration, creation of Zabbix templates, data models, Icinga design, and deployment.

This opportunity was unique as I saw the beginning of what QAD would eventually refer to as The QAD Cloud. In this role I was a key architect planning/developing, building, testing, and finally putting into production the customer offering. I managed a team of experienced Progress DBA’s and QAD SME’s while maintaining ongoing QAD Cloud customer care activities. additionally, I was a key contributor in developing Progress DBA and QAD application administration instruction for team members both locally and globally. I was also key in developing and hosting QAD Cloud web events for internal team members and customers around the world.

Being promoted to Support Consultant added increased responsibilities around providing level II support to QAD customers as well as internal. In this role, I became an SME (subject matter expert) taking on building QAD application stack in the support infrastructure. This included installation, configuration, performance tuning, backups, and ongoing administration as needed. The core installation stack consisted of OS level Java, Progress RDBMS databases, and the QAD suite of applications.
