Dallas/Fort Worth Area

As Quality Specialist I am in a firm-wide position focused on efforts to ensure the delivery of consistent, reliable, high-quality construction documents to owners and contractors.The position also involves mentoring and educating designers to ensure the firm’s delivery and documentation guidelines are understood and followed.On a personal note, I believe the design should reflect the function of the building, including usage, the environment and the integration of building systems. The design must be followed through to the least detail.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

As the corporate level Quality Control Manager I worked on projects throughout the firm, not just in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. I worked with the superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors to develop and implement a project-specific quality control plan for each project. I reviewed the plan expectations with subcontractors at pre-construction meetings then regularly visited each job site to review compliance. I worked directly with the project teams to clarify document requirements and to review details for constructability, and assisted in both the preparation of RFIs and meetings with the architect. Although I reviewed the entire project, my areas of emphasis were suitability of substrates to accept the next phase of construction; proper masonry jointing; locations of firesafing, insulation, firestopping, and continuity of fire walls; and the exterior envelope, including air & vapor barriers, openings, flashings, and roofing. At times I was called upon to work as both Project Manager and Superintendent where my skill set was needed for certain high-profile projects.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

Improved the quality of construction documents by instituting an office-wide program of continuous improvement for the architectural staff, including training seminars, coaching & mentoring, and ensuring adherence to QA-QC requirements. Led existing building evaluation teams in preparation for development of documents. Was production manager for up to 45 architects and interns in the Dallas and Fort Worth offices, responsible for staff assignments and evaluations. Worked as Project Manager for several new and renovation/ remodel projects for Tarrant County College, Collin County College, Dallas ISD, and Fort Worth ISD, many posing significant schedule, construction, fire code, and access challenges. I also executed Project Managerial and Construction Administration activities, such as surveys of existing conditions, serving as architect's representative at client meetings before/ during construction, and working with Contractors and subs in the field..

Managed a studio of 20 professionals, including architects, architectural interns, engineers, engineers-in-training, and interior designers. Led the other studio managers in updating and ensuring adherence to architectural QA-QC standards, We also worked together to provide appropriate training. Responsible for staff assignments and evaluations for architectural staff, Responsible for writing specifications for projects in my studio. Worked as Project Manager for multiple new and renovation/ addition projects in the Lubbock and Dallas areas, preparing surveys of existing conditions when needed. S served as the architect's representative for client meetings from design development through construction, working with Contractor and their subs in the field.
