I began my tech career as a pure coder, and now I'm circling back to my roots as a software developer. At least, that was the plan... an update for 2018 is in order but meanwhile here is the remainder of this blurb, intact for now: Early in my career, my comparatively abundant “emotional intelligence” skills pivoted me toward IT management and ultimately to customer-facing roles in consulting and sales. I keep my mind open to learning and love sharing my knowledge. I’m a great teammate, capable and decisive but also fun, easy-going and flexible. Nevertheless, I always maintain focus on what is our deliverable and when is it due.More recently, I spent over a decade in a niche software market — automated information controls — where I did professional services consulting, followed by sales and then managing top-tier customer relationships. While I enjoyed all those experiences, I wanted the final chapters of my career to be about something besides selling. After careful reflection, I decided to return to the developer role that got me my start… and which I loved doing!To that end, I’ve recently completed an intensive program to learn a stack of new technologies. I look forward to mastering these new hard skills in the coming months, but in a situation where I can give back at the same time by contributing the leadership and other soft skills I've built up during my consulting and customer-facing roles.
