Tech-Connected College Coach
Before my graduate school, I made the conscious decision to serve a year with AmeriCorps. My term of service was dedicated to College Possible where I got the opportunity to work with low-income, first-generation college students like myself. It was an incredible experience getting to support students who were once in my shoes. I supported 93 students at the University of Minnesota Duluth and College of St. Scholastica. Additionally, I supported unenrolled students who were taking a break or looking to return to finish their degree. Supporting my students consisted of phone calls, text messages, and emails to ensure (1) registration, (2) FAFSA renewal, and (3) graduation requirements. Furthermore, I searched for opportunities such as internships and scholarships for my students. By understanding the barriers, struggles, and challenges of these students, I am proud of the work I've done to ensure and encourage college graduation within this student population.
Peer Educator
DUTIESBeing in this position for nearly four years has allowed me to greatly hone my duties, tasks, and responsibilities as a Peer Educator. Primarily, I am responsible for critiquing and reviewing resumes both on a face-to-face interaction and through technology and the web to enhance resume content and format. My secondary responsibilities revolved around promotion of the office: wrote blog posts for the UMDCareers blog, tabled for campus events, and posted on organization Facebook page weekly. Additionally, I prepared students with career assessments such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator & Strong-Interest Inventory, entered the weekly Career Resource Center stats into the office database, and assisted the pro-staff with events and workshops pertaining to all sorts of topics such as job fairs, interviewing, personal statements, etc. PROJECTS• Every semester I submitted up to three to five career related blog posts to our UMDCareers blog. I fathom this ongoing project as I get to express my experiences as a student with the purpose of helping other students. • During my third year in the office, as part of my semester office project I constructed a LinkedIn handout to better career office branding.
Communications Chair
EXECUTIVE COORDINATING COMMITTEE (ECC)As part of the Midwest Asian American Students Union's ECC, the 15 of us collectively strive to educate, unite, and empower Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) students across the Midwest through programming, conferences, and additional resources. We meet biweekly to give updates and discuss about any APIA related topics or issues. In addition, we come together once a semester for an ECC retreat to further plan, discuss, and execute our goals, but also to bond as a team. The ECC is in charge of overseeing the Planning Committee in which they are responsible for planning the MAASU conferences for the students. What unites us all as a team is our drive and passion for social justice, progressive political reform, and the Asian Pacific Islander American identity. CO-COMMUNICATIONS CHAIRAs a duo, my partner Tessa and I work to facilitate a group of 26 MAASU representatives (M-Reps) from different MAASU member schools across the Midwest. We serve as the liaison between these member school representatives and the ECC and relay any sort of comments, concerns, questions, information, and announcements from one network to the other. CONFERENCESEvery year, MAASU holds two annual conferences, one per semester: Fall Leadership Summit & Spring Conference. The Fall Leadership Summit is a conference that ranges from 150-300 students with the intent of empowering and educating student leaders. While the Spring Conference serves 750-1,000 students and unites all students from the Midwest for a weekend to explore the APIA identity.

President
PERSONAL GOALS & ACCOMPLISHMENTSMy most memorable and favorite leadership position during my undergraduate career would be serving as President for Asian Pacific American Association (APAA). APAA is a student organization that strives to teach, learn, and preserve the customs, cultures, and heritage of the Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) identity. As an APIA myself, I was extremely passionate and dedicated in taking the organization to a completely new level that no one has seen before. With this ambition, my accomplishments consists of, but are not limited to the following: increasing membership by 20% to a record-breaking 110 members, attract students from different ethnic groups to better represent a pan-Asian Pacific Islander organization, lead the initiative for a stipend reward system for student leaders in the Multicultural Center, implement an art-exhibit for APAA's main event - Culture Show, and become the first ever UMD student to serve on the Midwest Asian American Students Union Executive Coordinating Committee. DUTIESAs President, I was responsible for supervising the entire executive board which consists of 6 other leaders including myself. Primarily, our goal was to promote the mission, values, and goals of APAA throughout the campus and Duluth communities. In doing this, we organized events and activities monthly, held weekly general meetings for members, and promoted the organization via tabling, activities fairs, and collaboration with other organizations on campus. Additionally, I volunteered to facilitate discussions during general meetings with the intent of raising political and social awareness and concerns affecting the APIA community.
