My inspiration to create House of Rum comes from over 30 years of travelling, living, and working across the Caribbean.During this time, I’ve met loads of super cool people, had some epic adventures, (the odd misadventure of course) and I have a passion for celebrating and appreciating every day.I wanted to bring all those experiences, all those different islands, all the music, all the dive sites, all the beach bars, all the amazing memories together to produce unique Rums that I am proud of, and Rums I would love to share with you.MY HOUSE OF RUMThose that know me, know that Rum is my go-to drink. My go-to drink to celebrate and have fun and my go-to drink to contemplate and appreciate what I do and what I have. Fantastic generous friends, a wonderful wife and four beautiful boys. Life is short and we are all on a journey and Rum has been part of my journey.My House of Rum is Sailing on a catamaran from St Maarten to Anguilla for a BBQ, horseback riding through the sugar cane plantations and rain forest of St Kitts & Nevis, snorkelling off the stunning pink Shell Beach in St Barts, dancing to reggae at Shirley Heights lookout in Antigua and proposing to my wife at Dunn’s River Falls in Jamaica.I can taste and feel every emotion with my favourite Rums.I hope we’ve inspired you to find your own House of Rum and live your best life and make lasting memories with your friends and family.Cheers to your own adventures!David Howarth

Hand on Heart developed ten years ago as a campaign to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest in the young and to partially or fully fund defibrillators for schools. Unfortunately due to the Covid pandemic we were unable to carry on and had to regrettably close the charity.We taught teachers within schools how to use a defibrillator and 10-12 year olds how to perform basic life saving skills such as CPR and Recovery Position.12 young people die every week of cardiac arrest, 270 of which will die in schools. It is estimated that 1 in 500 children have some form of pre existing heart conditionDuring our ten years we provided over 1500 defibrillators in schools and community groups. Taught over 45,000 children how to perform Basic Life Support and 0ver 10,000 teachers how to use a defibrillator.

I was a Scuba Diving Instructor on the Grand Princess which sailed around the Eastern & Western Caribbean.Teaching students theory and pool sessions onboard and then taking them on open water certification dives at the various islands we visited
