Passionate about optimizing systems using model-based deep reinforcement learning, I am currently immersed in my dissertation work while leveraging my strong background in control theory.With a diverse professional background spanning technical sales, fluid systems design, manufacturing, and education, I bring a wealth of experience to the table. I have spearheaded the creation of novel deep reinforcement learning models, implemented optimal controllers across linear and nonlinear systems, and successfully managed fluid systems engineering projects under tight deadlines. Additionally, I've had the privilege of guiding students through core undergraduate coursework for eleven semesters.My career aspirations revolve around becoming a skilled engineer specializing in machine learning and control theory, ideally integrating both disciplines. Looking ahead, I aim to transition into project management roles, leveraging my technical expertise and leadership skills to drive impactful initiatives forward.Beyond the lab, I find solace in the outdoors, particularly through activities like fishing, hiking, and kayaking. I also enjoy expanding my knowledge in history, philosophy, and human geography in my free time. Design InternAltec May 2014 - Aug 2014I designed sheet metal parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, drafted engineering drawings, converted copies of parts into .DXF files so they could be cut out by our laser and plasma cutters, processed parts in Oracle, and updated old parts to current design standards. I was also placed on a quality team where I wrote new plant-wide standards about the process of reporting quality issues. These new standards allow any engineer in the plant to view every quality issue report in real time. Anyone viewing these quality reports will also be able to filter them based on the date issued, department, and the specific issue. This way, management can view and fix the plant's most glaring problems faster than ever.
