Responsible for developing a scalable, supportable, and secure Linux platform standard and accompanying infrastructure. As a contractor to BMC, I developed a Linux platform standard that exceeded their expectations and requirements, and set a new benchmark for integration in an automated provisioning process. I worked independently with very little management oversight and proactively engaged the necessary teams to develop a quality product that integrated with their existing systems and processes. The BMC Linux provisioning process is completely automated and can be completed remotely by inexperienced technicians. As a conclusion to the project, recommended next steps and strategic direction were presented which include a migration from existing Unix platforms, a migration from NIS to Active Directory, and highlights for managing Linux using BMC BladeLogic.

Responsible for providing strategic and tactical direction for the Dell IT Linux environment of 3,500+ globally distributed servers in 8 major locations. Managed multiple vendor relationships, vendor consultants, and participated in contractual negotiations. Led global design of complex, cross functional projects and drove consensus with global engineering and support teams. Responsible for product selection, standardization, deployment automation, and standards documentation. Responsible for steering vendor product development to enhance value to Dell.

IT Linux and Windows Subject matter expert for Dell’s global factories. Responsible for Linux and Windows technology standards for use in Dell’s global factories. Responsible for server hardware standards, SCSI attached storage, and SAN technologies for the Dell factories IT infrastructure. Provided escalation support for challenging problems and root cause analysis for critical service outages. Subject matter expert role on complex projects such as new factory deployments.
