I joined Delta Airlines' Board of Directors because I wanted to gain further perspective and insight on serving consumers, but in a different industry than consumer packaged goods.

Nexxi Building Solutions manufactures high-performance buildings and building products, and when coupled with their design and assembly process, allows for buildings that are highly cost-efficient, durable, and even disaster resistant. I look forward to contributing my extensive experience in manufacturing production, brand building, and marketing strategies, supporting Nexii as it scales across North America, with a sight to future international expansion.

It was the honor of a lifetime being the CEO of P&G. Little did I know the possibilities in front of me when I joined P&G in our Greenville, North Carolina plant in 1980. I have had so many positive experiences over my time with the Company, none more positive than getting the opportunity to lead such a terrific group of achievement-oriented people.

In 2015, I was offered the opportunity to become President and CEO of P&G. A year later, I also became Chairman of the Board of Directors. My vision for P&G is one of sustained excellence in everything we do—in our results, in our brands and products, in our innovation, quality and service, in building and growing a diverse, world-class organization, and in our citizenship efforts. Excellence is timeless. With a focus on excellence in these areas, P&G is well-positioned to grow into the future.

In 2005, I moved from regional to global roles at P&G. First, I became the president of Global Family Care, and then the Group President of Global Home Care. From there, I accepted a role as Group President of Global Health and Grooming, and then Group President of Global Beauty, Grooming, and Health Care. Managing at a global level taught me that being successful isn’t just about following the same path as before and striving to be better than last year. It’s about constantly challenging the way we do business and ensuring we are changing and growing inside the Company faster than the world is changing outside the Company. It is this willingness to transform that has helped P&G stand the test of time.

After managing U.S. brands, I moved abroad to help expand P&G’s business in markets around the world. I started as General Manager of Hong Kong & China Hair Care, and then became Vice President of China Hair Care and Anti-Counterfeiting. I realized that despite everything I knew about business and leadership, I knew nothing about the Chinese marketplace or Chinese consumers. In these challenging roles working with people in different cultural contexts and from a broader range of backgrounds, I discovered just how important diversity and inclusion are in building a resilient and innovative business and in understanding the consumers we serve. I deepened my focus on the people and ideas that power great brands and learned to trust the ingenuity of my teams more completely. Ultimately, I learned that none of us is smarter than all of us. I went from China to Western Europe, where I became Vice President of Family Care in that region. From there, I returned to the U.S., where I served as Vice President of North America Family Care. These positions helped me learn the power of a focused strategy brilliantly executed.

While in Product Supply in my early career, I became fascinated with the business outside of P&G’s plants – specifically how the Company builds brands and establishes lifelong relationships with consumers of our products. But to move into the commercial side of the business, I’d have to start my career over. I transitioned into the role of Assistant Brand Manager (and later Brand Manager) for Pampers, U.S. It was a challenging move, but it fed my desire to connect with our brands and the people who use them. In 1996, I became the Marketing Director for Diaper Products for the U.S. I learned how to build and grow brands. I learned about the creative process and about how important it is to listen to consumers. Most importantly, I learned what it means to be humble and that sometimes stepping back can help you find the right path forward.

During this period, I served as Production/Department manager at P&G’s plant in Greenville, NC; as Operations Manager in Cheboygan, MI and Albany, GA; and as Plant Manager in Mehoopany, PA. In these roles, I learned how to work with large teams and how to engage with individual people. Working in P&G plants made it clear to me that every single one of us makes a difference and helped me realize the incredible importance, as a company, of being a good citizen in the communities where we operate.
