About Dave Macintosh

As an Emmy Award-winning producer and partner at Macintosh Films, LLC, I specialize in creating compelling video content that drives engagement and delivers key messages to targeted audiences. With a versatile skill set that covers all stages of production—from concept development and preproduction planning to on-set execution and postproduction—I ensure every project is crafted to resonate and achieve results across a range of genres and platforms.MY HISTORYIn my 20s I pitched a Los Angeles record label on a music video concept. The label took a risk on a young director and gave me a budget. I produced, directed, and edited the music video “Weapons of Our Warfare” by Deliverance. The video placed among the top three on MTV's Head Banger's Ball countdown twelve weeks in a row, resulting in over 700,000 albums sold. Lars Ulrich of Metallica hosted a show in which he named the video one of his top ten favorite metal videos of all time.Next I went to film school at the University of California Los Angeles Extension, where I learned from Hollywood veterans like Oscar-winning screenwriter Ron Bass (Rainman, My Best Friend's Wedding, What Dreams May Come) and producer Stephen Deutsch (Somewhere in Time, All the Right Moves, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure). While attending film school I worked at the Academy Award-winning visual effects company Digital Domain, assisting in the production of the blockbuster movies Titanic, The Fifth Element, Dante’s Peak, and Chain Reaction. Then I founded the media and technology company Gamecaster, Inc. and created one of the first "eSports" TV series to air on American television. I was an executive producer/producer and managed a $1 million production budget and 60-person crew. The series featured a live studio audience and was sponsored by leading video game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) and broadcast nationally by Dish Network. PC Gamer Magazine applauded the series for “Giving viewers a new level of quality for tournament shows.”To enhance the spectator experience, I invented virtual camera technology. An innovative hardware/software system, the technology enables professional sports camera operators to film within video games. Referring to the technology, CBS News wrote: “The ability to broadcast from within the game completely changes the way people view video game competitions.” The technology was licensed by the film, TV, and video game industries and was used on the AAA Xbox 360 game, Gears of War 3, developed with Unreal Engine by Epic Games and published by Microsoft.
