I have two decades of corporate strategy and business development experience—at The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) and a venture capital firm—matching businesses with emerging technologies and innovative partners and generating inorganic growth through global investments and acquisitions. As a creative thought leader and first mover who creates a culture of innovation, I’ve built strategic partnerships with Disney’s diverse business units and served as an advisor and board member of numerous growth and early-stage startups and accelerators.CREATING A BUSINESS OUT OF A STORYI started my career as a storyteller, working in motion picture development at Imagine Entertainment and writing a screenplay that I sold to Warner Bros. At TWDC, I’ve guided investment in numerous company firsts from smart ideas through proof-of-concept and on to multi-million- and multi-billion dollar results. I helped establish Disney’s first venture capital arm, Steamboat Ventures. I partnered with IDEO to launch the first Developer Day, TWDC’s first time engaging outsiders to develop new ideas and businesses like virtual collectibles and apps. Ten years ago, I pioneered the Disney Accelerator to invest in and integrate companies to forge new media and entertainment experiences, and it has become the industry’s leading accelerator with 60+ investments and a current total portfolio valuation of $47 billion. We produced a docu-style film showcasing partnerships between startups and corporate, an industry first that continues today. I led TWDC into Web 3.0 with its first investment in a blockchain company and oversaw the cross-business unit launch of NFTs that generated hundreds of millions of dollars. Most recently, I have lead the governance process for Generative AI and cross-company training and rollout.KEEPING TEAMS IN THE FLOW OF INFORMATIONI moved and built a team in Silicon Valley so we could be in the heart of tech innovation.
