Founder & Editor-In-Cape
Current
AP2HYC.com is a comic book/superhero website dedicated to celebrating the superhero genre and promoting indie comic books. As Editor-In-Cape, I oversee a team of 20+ contributing writers, a senior editor, and two junior editors to create and edit all original content, as well as assigning all article topics. I liaise with comic book creators to arrange reviews and interviews.Beyond the main website, the AP2HYC brand also includes a weekly podcast, a successful YouTube channel, and a social media community of over 10,000 followers. I am also the head product manager and oversee all technical aspects of A Place to Hang Your Cape, including web design and SEO. Starting out as a one-man-blog, I have used social media and other digital marketing strategies to build AP2HYC into an internationally recognised brand. I also work with comic creators to develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote their work and/or Kickstarters for new comics. These campaigns consist of banner ads on AP2HYC.com, a review and/or interview article about the comic, and promotional tweets and Facebook posts on the AP2HYC social media sites. In March 2017, AP2HYC launched its official audio podcast, PodCapers. I developed the podcast over several months before the release and have appeared in many episodes as a guest. As producer, I liaise with all the guests, select the topic for each episode, and manage all of the marketing and visual branding. In 2018, AP2HYC launched a mentorship program aimed at students and recent graduates called Capers XP. The program is designed to put students/graduates on the frontline, leading projects and gaining experience in various forms of media creation and marketing. The students are paired with a member of the senior team to work alongside them and learn from them.In 2020, AP2HYC celebrated its 10 year anniversary and launched a new merchandise store on TeePublic.
