My passion is commercializing life science technologies. I have more than 27 years experience in life science company building, product development, intellectual property management, and business development. I have co-founded 7 biotech start-ups, managed other early-stage businesses, and authored business plans backed by more than $66M in capital, with exits totaling $328 to date.Trained as Molecular Biologist, I got started in entrepreneurship when I co-founded Genteric, Inc., a San Francisco Bay Area biotech start-up. After relocating to Ann Arbor I was a founding member of Accuri Cytometers Inc. (acquired by Becton Dickinson in 2011), which developed flow cytometry instruments. Later I was the founding CEO of Swift Biosciences Inc. (Ann Arbor, acquired by IDT in 2021) where I led the creation, funding and development of the company for six years. During that time Swift invented and brought to market multiple new technologies for genetic analysis, including a growing portfolio of products for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). Most recently I am co-founder and CEO of aLight Sciences Inc, also in Ann Arbor.Since coming to Ann Arbor I have also engaged regularly with the University of Michigan. Through UM's Innovation Partnerships office (tech transfer) I have assisted many faculty with technology evaluation and new company formation, including commercialization strategies and product development plans for pre-seed stage technology start-ups. I am also an Adjunct Faculty in the UM Medical School and I regularly lecture on life science innovation and commercialization.Specialties: Life science technology commercialization, company creation, financing, product development, intellectual property management, business development
