I remember the days of the mindset, “Work hard in school, get a job, and hopefully retire ‘well off’ someday.” It didn’t take long for me to see the flaws in this design. I will always work hard, but will I love what I do? What if I do not? Can I handle the daily grind of TPS reports? Not likely…This realization led me down a path to form my first company MorVid Games, LLC (DBA MorVid Interactive, LLC). We specialized in B2B mobile applications for marketing and business development purposes. We also built games and entertaining applications that we really enjoyed creating and our community love to play. We worked with clients such as Diageo’s Captain Morgan Spice Rum, Red Stripe beer, and many small to medium sized businesses (including start ups). The idea of the day-to-day grind disappeared and was replaced with constant variation and curve balls being thrown at us. We had to adapt and play ahead to meet every challenge while not overstepping our bounds to stay profitable. Even typical business challenges of hiring new talent, selling to new customers, and getting paid by clients created constant challenges towards moving forward. I was working hard and long hours but I could claim one thing that few of my peers could; I loved my job. This all started with a book, “Mobile 3D Game Development: From Start to Market,” that essentially woke me up to the realization that I am an Entrepreneur at heart and I need the constant challenges and variation in my work to truly stay happy.I have now launched a new business, Duffek Mobile, LLC, that offers mobile, web, and desktop software development services. We are also working on our own concepts that will be announced in the next few months. The experiences I’ve gained over the last few years have helped me truly understand a saying by an old college professor of mine:“The only thing more difficult than a failing business is a successful one.”Specialties: Software Development, Business Development, Team Building, Project Management, Game Development, Creative and Technical Writing (Weird combination I know)Programming: C/C++/C#, Objective-C, ASP.NET, iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, Desktop Applications
