I love puzzles. As a developer, I thrive on fixing bugs, learning new systems and syntax, and continually growing my understanding of the webMy interest in coding was sparked at a young age with a game called Warcraft III which came with it’s own sandbox editor. If you knew what to do and where to look, you could make your own levels for this game (someone did, it became “Dota”). It was a chance to be completely creative, in a brand new way. At 13 years old, I developed a learning pattern that I still use today - researching, testing, and decomposing. After getting my Associate’s Degree in Arts, I landed a job in the logistics field. It cemented the fact that I enjoy working professionally with computers, and shaped my attention to detail and ability to solve complex and unique problems. However I found myself solving the same problems over and over, and I had gone as far as I could in my field. I was craving a career where I could work on new challenges every day, and solve them in a much more creative way.I decided to dive completely into the world of coding, and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. I’m working towards getting certified at Actualize Coding Bootcamp, learning Ruby, Rails, Javascript, Vue.js, Git, HTML, CSS, and more. I’m building a capstone project, “Playgroup Tutor”, where people who play Magic: The Gathering can set up profiles and find other people to play with nearby, based on how they personally play the game.I’m excited to use all these new skills professionally, and connect with other programmers to contribute to larger projects. I’m happy to connect with my younger self, as we share the same ability to be creative and constantly learn new things.
