I love chemistry and my passion is research. I consider myself lucky that each day I get to discover something new about the world, and even luckier that I get to make it my career. As a researcher in the Claridge Lab at Purdue University, I am a proficient analytical, materials, and surface chemist extensively experienced in noncovalent functionalization of 2D materials and modulating interfacial properties with high spatial precision. Specifically, I am researching the relationship between macroscopic and nanoscale patterning of biologically-inspired interfacial chemistries on 2D materials.I have developed precise control over surface patterning via microcontact printing to generate well-defined microscopic areas of noncovalent striped phased amphiphiles. This allows the well-defined and controlled presentation of molecules at the surface. I have also developed the capability to remove the atom-thin self-assembled layer from the layered material to create a flexible ordered template for wearable technologies. I can then use the transferred film as a platform technology to control cell adhesion and differentiation. I aim to implement the amphiphilic patterns as a robust template for orderly growth of nanostructured materials, including crystals, on the surfaces of layered materials.My work in the Claridge group has been recognized with the 2018 Cecilia Zissis Graduate Scholarship and the 2019–2020 Cagiantas Fellowship.I have served in many leadership roles at Purdue including a Fall 2019 ACS symposium co-organizer, the 2018–2019 Graduate Student Advisory Board Analytical Representative, and the 2016–2018 graduate student safety administrator. In August 2020 I was hired at Adhesives Research, INC. where I am leveraging my analytical and materials background to solve problems in Release Liners and Adhesives and to create novel platform technologies to meet our customer's needs and build competencies .
