I'm a microbiologist that specialized in host-pathogen interactions of microbes with the human host. I particularly focus on the cellular and molecular biology aspects of infection with M. tuberculosis. I'm currently interested in searching for common phenotypes and regulatory events provoked by M. tuberculosis and HIV infection in humans, particularly those occurring in the interface between innate and adaptive immune response. I'm also interested in discovering and designing pharmaceutical tools that enable us to manipulate those events to favour the host, with particular focus on the intracellular environment of antigen presenting cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells. I'm also collaborating with different groups to improve drug delivery nano-systems that reduce cytotoxicity of M. tuberculosis therapeutics. I have vast experience in working with biological samples in bio-safety facilities necessary for handling level 3 microorganisms.
