Continuing my work from my co-op, I develop pipelines for multiplex immunofluorescence image analysis, mainly using QuPath, Cellpose and other cell segmentation methods, and Python packages such as tifffile.

I am testing existing software solutions and developing pipelines for multiplex immunofluorescence image analysis.

I wrote scripts to process live-cell imaging data using PyImageJ/Fiji and R. I also created a Dockerized version of the program.

I provided teaching support for BINF 6310, Introduction to Computational Methods in Bioinformatics.

I organized weekly seminars as well as larger annual meetings and conferences for the Physics Department including the Physics Department Colloquium, the New England Complex Fluids Workshop, and the MRSEC Winter School. I also provided administrative assistance for the Brandeis MRSEC and other Physics research groups as needs arose, including lodging for visitors, meeting space and catering arrangements, scheduling, and supply purchases.

I prepared a jacket of mainly vertebrate fossils from the Thomas Farm locality using carbide picks and adhesives. After preparation of one side, I created a plaster flip jacket to continue preparation on the other side.

Using Microsoft Excel, I reformatted spreadsheets of specimen data to upload to the Minnesota Biodiversity Atlas. Additionally, I mounted plant specimens from Papua New Guinea on herbarium sheets for storage in the plant collections.

I did general logistical tasks for the program throughout the year, typically travel and lodging arrangements and purchase and reimbursement reconciliation. One of the largest projects I took on in this role was as primary coordinator for the pilot GABI RET - The North American Connection, which brought over 20 teachers to Florida to conduct fieldwork with FLMNH scientists. This involved handling travel and lodging, scheduling, supply orders, and constant communication with the scientists and teachers involved.

I managed travel arrangements and other logistical and administrative tasks for the Panama Canal Project - Partnerships for International Research and Education (PCP-PIRE). I updated the program's website, managed the blog, and was editor of the program eNewsletter. I was an Organizing Team Member for the four-day Nebraska Badlands Collaborative Field conference for professional paleontologists, K-12 teachers, and fossil club members.

I prepared fossils from the Miocene of Panama using old and new techniques including using carbide picks and acid preparation. I learned the basics of vertebrate fossil identification and identified over 900 fossils with 3 other interns. I taught 5 field interns and 4 museum interns the basics of fossil preparation, identification, and curation. I conducted a research project with Dr. Aaron Wood on mammal beta diversity and the latitudinal temperature gradient, for which I did a poster presentation at the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology 2015 Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX. I was an invited speaker for a "Women in Paleontology" event hosted by the Florida Fossil Hunters in Orlando, FL and for the "Paleontology ROCKS!" summer camp held at the Florida Museum.

I learned how to use the 3D imaging software Mimics to create 3D models of fossils and prepare them for 3D printing in Dr. Zhe-Xi Luo's lab. After printing, I took photographs of the prints in different positions and used ImageJ to get an understanding of fossil mammal shoulder girdle range and reconstruction.

I prepared fossils using an airscribe and an air abrasive unit and I repaired fossils using PaleoBond, B72, and Apoxie putty.

I cleaned and did minor repairs on Eocene fossils from the Washakie Basin and then created storage containers for them using ethafoam. I also did microfossil picking and learned basic mammal tooth identification so that I could correct some catalogued specimens in the database.
