Oversaw the reconstruction of 2 churches, initiated a work-for-pay project that enabled destroyed homes to be cleared away and emergency shelters were provided. Provided a C-level transition process for a Hong Kong manufacturer where the CEO wanted to quit in frustration. I identified key issues, proposed sensible solutions, issues were resolved resulting in CEO staying on for another 2 years. Provided humanitarian assessment of a forced return of Hmong asylum seekers from Thailand to Laos for US advocacy group by performing due diligence and determining that geopolitical issues meant this forced return was not something that could be realistically challenged.

    Conducted an internal organizational review for an international NGO to evaluate the impact of a non-core activity on the agency and assess the feasibility of adding this new competency to their core deliverables. I identified key issues. 1. A significant number of their national staff had been impacted by the disaster to which they had responded. Many staff members were not performing well or constantly sick. I discovered the agency had never conducted post traumatic counseling for their staff. As a result, the issues they were now facing were psychosomatic responses to buried stress. 2. Confirmed they had met (new) donor expectations, but that their organizational finance structure was at risk because of their relationship with their normal donor. As a result of this finding, they added a Director of Development 4 weeks after the final report. 3. Acting on my recommendation, the agency began adding a Disaster Risk Reduction component to their program with the goal of better insulating their clients from financial loss in the event of future disasters. I later collaborated with some of their expatriate staff as lead author on a chapter that was published.
