With responsibility that spanned the Home, Motor and Life (Protection) insurance portfolios at Nationwide my team were responsible for the management of the societies General Insurance P&L's, regulatory compliance and risk management along side traditional product and proposition management.Working extremely closely with our 3rd party providers our aim was to develop a suite of insurance products that are both innovative and reflective of our customers needs with exceptional customer centric service - and all at a price point that reflects our mutual status.During my time in this role we delivered the industries largest single UK portfolio migration project, developed innovative product structures to reflect a complex distribution model and wide ranging member needs and created a marketing leading pricing strategy utilising proprietary Nationwide B.S. data.
Senior Manager - Personal Loans
Personal Loans is a key product in the Nationwide Banking portfolio. As such I was tasked with increasing market share by driving innovating product and process enhancements to deliver overall portfolio growth. Seopa are a fantastic business who are doing very impressive things in the insurance comparison market - especially against competitors that are almost exclusively backed by established banks or insurers. Although the role with Seopa was for a short period of time the work focused on improving short term and long term revenue streams. This included renegotiating key contracts with partners and suppliers and securing development grants from local governmental bodies. The role also involved an element of product development at the strategic planning and developer engagement stage.
Head Of Motoring
The transition to Head of Motoring was a fantastic opportunity that moved me to the centre of the Confused.com strategy. The company had faced significant challenges from the growth of key competitors and a diminishing market share but our first issue was the management of some key legacy technologies that were impeding agility. Following on from my work on Home Insurance we decided to re-architect the entire site moving to the new standard of .net and introducing the innovative AGILE methodology of development. Trained as both a Scrum Master and Product Owner my division became the growth pole within the business to which all other areas became aligned. Our key competitors growth was perhaps the most complex challenge however. With my team we set about the process of completely redesigning our quote process to make it more intuitive and engaging and along with some incredibly innovative members of my team developed new functionality such as quick quote. Our partners in the Commercial teams agreed new financial arrangement with key partners and onboard new providers in record time to improve our competitive. In my time in this role I was also asked (due to my past experience) to also head up the companies PR division and working alongside a very talented PR manager we engaged in a process of building on our credibility in the market which culminated in our inclusion Parliamentary working parties established to examine Insurance costs
Head Of Household Insurances
I was brought into Confused.com to help them establish a foothold in the aggregated Home Insurance market. With the business predominantly focused on Motor Insurance my role was designed to introduce some Home Insurance experience into the organisation and my challenge was to develop and form a credible presence in the Home Insurance market. My team of product executives and I started with a fundamental redesign of the acquisition process with key partners such as RSA, HM Land Registry and Experian to build a deep insight of consumer needs and underwriting technology. This enabled us to design a customer journey that moved our completion rate to low 90% mark and conversion to sale in mid 20%In my time as Head of Household I managed to grow market share to c 40%, increase revenues to c £18m and launch and develop new niche propositions such as aggregated non-standard insurance (c 10% of Home Insurance market) and Caravan insurance. Alongside this we developed the first ever aggregator Home Insurance IOS app, developed a full through the line marketing agenda and became a key press commentator in the market on the impact of technology on Insurance

Focusing on business development, my role was to identify and facilitate meetings with senior executive in the UK’s larger corporate environment. This meant daily interactions with CEO, CFO and COO level executives with major FTSE companies such as Dyson, Virgin and Structadene . My role centered on the effective planning, management and delivery of a strategic mix of live marketing to further improve the awareness, retention and development of Lloyds corporate banking customer base.

My role was to manage the retention performance of two of Lloyds most profitable insurance portfolios, branch network and directly sold home insurances. The role focused on developing and negotiating effective anti aggregator marketing plans with key stake holders and delivery of these through our wider team. Whilst personally responsible for the retention of over £330m in annual premiums my role expanded to include project management of large scale retention projects this included running the “Customer Experience” work stream of the Pearl insurance acquisition project
