Research Support (80%)• Dissection, staining, and imaging of inner ear tissues. • Hearing testing in animal models. • IP injections and AAV-injections and inner ear surgeries on rodent models. • Perform various techniques in molecular biology such as: RNA and Western Blots, genotyping assays. • Maintenance of mouse colonies, data sets, lab supplies, and general lab operations. • Preparing figures and draft texts for manuscripts and grant proposals.• Writing grant proposals for novel areas of inner ear research and forming multi-institute collaborations with other investigators in the field.Lab Management (20%)• Maintains large transgenic mouse colony, including breeding and genotyping. • Manages resources/supplies and coordinates research projects to achieve specific goals and timetables. • Identifies problems with the lab procedures, escalates to PI when needed with proposed solutions, and implements corrective action as needed. • Provides technical expertise, answers research related, operational and procedural questions. • Oversees general lab maintenance/organization, upkeep, and compliance with safety initiatives. • Contributes to and oversees the development of new techniques and standardized operating protocols (SOP), utilizing new tools that lead to the modification of methodology and increased quality and reliability of research

• Develop, design, conduct and analyze data resulting from established and novel in vivo approaches, including surgical procedures (intracochlear), auditory function assessments, tissue collections, histology and models of preclinical efficacy pertaining to Otology.• Coordinate and manage in vivo preclinical studies in nonhuman primate animal models• Support preclinical and clinical development efforts by designing and conducting pharmacokinetic, pharmacology and toxicology studies.• Actively contribute to project and program teams and provide clear and consistent communication of ideas, data, conclusions and outcomes.• Contribute to manuscripts for key publications (abstracts, posters, presentations) consistent with the overall scientific and medical communications plan. Present data at internal meetings and external scientific conferences and meetings.• Maintain in-depth and current knowledge in Otology to support development of novel concepts and approaches. Serve as technical expert and routinely educate peers and others. Mentor the scientific staff for development of approaches, techniques and best practices.

Characterized a set a truncated promoter sequences in the murine inner ear using Adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors. I was responsible for every aspect of the project up to the point of analyzing the data: maintaining a small animal colony, performing in vivo delivery of AAV vectors, harvesting and dissecting inner ear tissue, immunostaining, and confocal imaging.
