As a Fabricator for the Engineering Test department, I aid engineering design by fabricating and welding prototype parts and testing equipment that contribute to making our Salt-Cooled Reactor a reality.The scope of my projects vary greatly, working with exotic metals, thin wall tubing, complex joint geometries, to large pipe and pressure vessels.

I took on many responsibilities, including:- Collaborating with engineers to fabricate, machine, weld, and assemble prototypes, while providing design input, recommendations, and ideas to enhance product functionality and manufacturability.- Becoming an internal subject matter expert (SME) on wheelchair tests and standards (primarily RESNA WC-1/ISO 7176); performing and documenting hundreds of tests, maintaining testing documentation using PDM, and developing, fabricating, and maintaining test apparatuses and equipment.- Conducting weld testing and analysis for in-house processes, field failures, and suppliers through visual examination, dye penetrants, macro analysis, and simulated use case strength testing.- Gaining proficiency in several computer programs, including Adobe, SolidWorks, LabVIEW, and PDM.- Creating a weld training curriculum and leading training sessions for engineering interns.- Participating in Permobil's global standardization efforts for medical devices by reviewing industry draft standards and submitting suggestions for revisions.I greatly enjoyed my time at Permobil.
