Mariana is an oceanographer and holds a Master's degree in oceanography, working with marine conservation. She is co-founder of Bloom Ocean, an agency that creates and develops ocean-oriented solutions for conservation. Mariana is a former Nippon Foundation fellow at the United Nations, working on issues related to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. She is of the first cohort of All-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassadors, a member of the National Committee of the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development in Brazil, Coordinator of Node Brazil of the Early Career Ocean Professionals Programme, and a member of the Women's League to the Ocean. Mariana is interested in science diplomacy, sustainability, public policy, and ocean communication.
