I have worked as a Direct Support Professional for 33 years both in a home setting and in a workshop setting. The last 17 years I have worked in a sheltered Workshop setting at our agency. I am in charge of production completion. We utilize our consumers in completing various jobs for local companies. I am in charge of our wood stake shop, where we make lathe, stakes and hubs for construction and surveyors. I'm responsible for dealing with customers, writing up invoices for bookkeeping and keeping inventory on our products. This includes filing of all the hard copy paperwork, and documentation of consumer programing. I correspond with our customers via email and phone concerning orders etc. Before this I worked in various factories. I went back to school and got my associate degree in Health Information and Medical coding in 2016. I also have my CPC-A credential from the AAPC but have not found employment in this field as yet because of the difficulty in getting into the field without experience. I would like to explore this line of work if I could find a job doing so.I am self motivated and work well alone or as a team.
