After 25 years in the classroom in a variety or roles, Debbie founded a new enterprise in 2016, Riveting Results, to act on her current thinking:Every child in this country deserves access to literacy instruction that enables them to read with understanding and insight and write with clarity and power. We are much closer than ever before to understanding which instructional methods could transform our education system so that it works for all children. When we appropriately value our students' and teachers' precious time, we can make the decisions that will transform their lives and lay the groundwork for democracy. From 2009 - 2015, Debbie worked as the Chief English/Language Arts officer for Amplify Learning. Before that, in 1994, she co-founded and led The Writers' Express (WEX), a nonprofit, to develop tools for teachers in reading and writing instruction. She also led the organization’s initial merger with Wireless Generation (now Amplify Learning) in 2009. Debbie learned a lot about the most compelling research on literacy when she consulted to the editors of the Common Core Standards from 2008 - 2010. From 1990– 1998, Debbie was a classroom teacher in public schools in Providence, RI, Baltimore City, and Sudbury, Massachusetts.

In addition to creating the core and the ELD curricula, I supervised the development of an extensive digital library and research archives for independent reading. I supervised our professional development team in their work with teachers to get the best possible results from the program. I worked with our sales team to develop communication tools and to participate in presentations of the product. Show less -
