My adventures at Primary Insights started as a researcher. I conducted focus groups and interviewed consumers and professionals, analyzed data, and wrote reports from 1 to 150 pages, including marketing and product development recommendations. I quickly observed that project management at the company was an issue and created a project management system that simplified processes and reduced errors. The original basis of the system is still used today. When business was slow, I dived into marketing and business development, creating and implementing a strategic guide and marketing plan to bring in more business. Soon I moved away from the research side of the business and became the Vice President of Operations. In this position I was responsible for marketing, information systems, project management, and human resources. I discovered and hired employees that remained with the company for about 15 years. I managed Primary Insights' dive into the digital world, overseeing the development of their first website.
