With more than 30 years of legal and business experience, Deborah is responsible for numerous front and mid office functions for SteelPoint including human resources, risk management, legal, compliance, safety and facilities management. Prior to joining the executive management team of SteelPoint (f/k/a/MMDi) in January 2017, she was Deputy General Counsel and Managing Director – Corporate Security at Piedmont Natural Gas Company, where she was responsible for all company real estate and facilities, corporate security and primary oversight of legal services related to all commercial transactions (including without limitation, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, customer relations and related matters), risk management, claims and dispute resolution, privacy, labor and employment matters, compliance and internal investigations. She was a member of the Company’s Strategic Advisory Board, Risk Management Advisory Committee, Crisis Management Committee and other cross-functional teams.Previously Deborah supervised risk management, corporate compliance investigations, government investigations, significant litigation and dispute resolution as associate general counsel for Duke Energy Corporation. Prior to joining Duke Energy, Deborah was senior commercial counsel in North America for Continental Tire with responsibility for domestic and international legal issues including sales, advertising and marketing, contracts and commercial transactions, customs and antitrust compliance and financial issues. She also worked in Germany as chief legal counsel to the parent company’s international business unit advising executives on business ventures in Africa, South America and the Far East.
