Key responsibilities for this role were to monitor, assess and select appropriate web technologies to improve and extend the University's web presence, develop new functionality and capability, maintain regular contact with clients and users of the web services the team was responsible for. I was required to maintain a professional understanding of various web technologies, platforms, languages and standards. In particular Perl, PHP, Java, JavaScript, AJAX, RSS, XML, XSLT, CSS and their support and provision across hosting platforms, consuming devices and browsers.I was involved in a technical advisory and critique capacity in many significant University wide projects including the eLearning platform selection process, the "Moodle uptake" team, multiple web server infrastructure upgrade projects, a campus-copy MFD/document management project, iWaikato portal product selection and deployment and the ITS content-management system selection.
