Defense Technology Training Academy (formerly the Safariland Training Academy) has over 40 years of experience in training law enforcement and Military in the use of less lethal tools and tactics. facilitated by over 40 current or former officers and Military members the curriculum has been expanded to include crowd management, ballistic shield, handgun, carbine, shotgun and long gun skills.

Providing cutting edge learning opportunities for Law Enforcement, Military and security forces world wide. I specialize in Less Lethal, Crowd Management and Armed Intruder skills. I also write curriculum for our training staff of approx 80 current and retired professionals.

I provide technical assistance for our Less Lethal products to sales and end users alike. Supporting a territory from Hawaii to Mississippi, I routinely conduct demonstrations and training. I also assist our west coast sales force as needed in all areas of our product lines to include body armor and tactical gear.

Drawing on my 30 years of experence within the law enforcement and military communities, I ensure Defense Technology continues its leading roll within the Less Lethal industry. Interfacing with operators and leadership alike, developing marketing programs, overseeing pricing and managing our message, I ensure the challenges of tomorrow are planned for today. I work with our mangament team to ensure Defense Technology continues to offer the values of effectiveness, quality, and reliability in all of our products while delivering a sound and profitable Busniess model.

Customer Development: Interfaced with military units of all levels and branches of service to ensure strong relationships and brand loyalty.Product Development: Worked directly with R&D to create /refine products offered and ensure they would meet the dynamic challenges of the modern battle field. Instruction: Provided training and demonstrations of products across the country to military and federal law enforcement..

Joining the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was the fulfillment of a life time goal of working in the Law Enforcement profession. As the primary LE provider for the largest county in the United States, SBCSD provided numerous growth opportunities for me.I was processing crime scenes and tracking suspects at an advanced level, thanks to the great training I received from my peers who also taught the FBI and U.S Boarder Patrol. With my assignment to the Career Criminal Division, our dedicated SWAT team, I grew to become a lead instructor in all of our tactical and weapon disciplines specializing in the long gun. Working with our aviation unit over the years, I helped refine the Air Assault tactics of serving high risk search warrants through helicopter deployments. Since our county has vast and diverse environments, I have worked in urban and rural areas, in snow and desert heat, supervised a PWC unit on the Colorado River, managed complex S&R operations and represented the department in Unified Command Operations during the early stages of massive forest fires and flood disasters. I was the supervisor for inmate Intake at both Central and West Valley Detention Centers, managing our gang population.My main passion is teaching. Recognized for these skills, I was appointed the supervisor of our Force Options Training Unit. Responsible for providing training and certification of our sworn employees in all levels of force via highly interactive quarterly programs. My team and I conducted research that resulted in advancements to our Stress Based Training model. This program received wide interest and was recognized with the California Governors' Award for Innovative Training. My final three years were as the Commander of the Phelan Satellite Sub Station responsible for a patrol area including Wrightwood, and Silver Lakes, about half of the Victor Valley’s patrol area.

I joined the Marine Corps just months after Saigon fell. Seeking an assignment as an MP, I was first sent to engineer school and deployed to Okinawa. Upon returning to CONUS, I was selected for the Nuclear Ordnance Platoon (NOP) Security Force. Within eight months, I was promoted to NCOIC of Security were I supervised a dedicated force which provided physical security, training and inspections of units which might handle classified material. My last four months of my enlistment were spent as one of four Patrol Supervisors for PMO.
