I have a passion for both literacy and computer technology so the library automation industry is a natural home for me. I get to indulge these passions as a Sales Engineer for Innovative Interfaces where my position allows me to demonstrate enterprise-wide library automation solutions to public libraries all over North America.When a library is in the process of choosing a new automation system my role is to help them make an informed decision. Throughout my career I've assumed a variety of technical roles: from System Administrator to Software Engineer. This background has proved invaluable in helping libraries understand the relevant technologies so they can decide confidently whether our solutions meet their needs.I strive to understand each library's workflows and day to day challenges. Its exciting and rewarding to see how the Polaris system can solve problems for library staff and help them provide greater service to their patrons.Sometimes the rewards are unexpected! In 2013 during a demonstration to the Fort Worth Public Library. I garnered a marriage proposal from an audience member who was so ecstatic with how Polaris Circulation could address a unique need they had.At heart, however, I'll always be a proud "techie." In 2012 the staff at the Dayton Metro Library in Ohio celebrated going live on their new Polaris system by presenting awards to a handful of Polaris staff. For my work as the Sales Engineer on their Account Team I was honored with an "Alpha Geek" award - to this day one of my proudest accomplishments.
