Building on previous experience, tutoring at Stark State College focused on helping students from largely under-privileged and undereducated backgrounds in a variety of fields to aid their passage through writing-heavy courses such as College Composition, Effective Speaking, and a variety of classes focused on the humanities and social sciences. This experience simultaneously enhanced skills in tutoring students with rudimentary skills, such as those lacking proficiency in basic technological navigation regarding email and computer applications like Word and PowerPoint, and those focused on higher-order concerns, such as argumentation and research. Additionally, a number of clients came from ELL backgrounds, thus building further training in assessing and addressing the needs of non-native speakers, while travel between multiple campuses across Northeast Ohio helped to develop skills in delineating and tackling unique challenges between diverse populations.

Such tutoring ran the gamut from general grammar concerns, such as subject-verb agreement and making sure to consistently denote proper tenses, to larger-order concerns such as flow, organization, and proper research methods.
