I also worked with Sales to scope work with new clients. My ability to wear whatever hat was thrown on my head would land me my next job.

At NetApp, I was tasked with building and then leading a new team of writers in a Technical Marketing department. We developed reports and reference architecture documentation for solutions that integrate NetApp's storage products with partner technology (Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, Red Hat, etc.) with an emphasis on cloud computing and virtualization. But I got really bored after the team at was up and running. Most of my job became troubleshooting Word templates for Field Services. No thanks.

I wrote operation manuals for wastewater pumps, design and theory documentation for coal catalysts, and process documentation for a Maryland county facility services department. Whatever Sales brought in. Once I wrote a regulatory review doc for the process of making "medical yarn," which I didn't know existed. I had to go out to the plant and get into a hermetically sealed suit so I could have all the machines explained to me. That one was pretty cool.
