In addition to drawing on my deep experience in the fields of training and communication, I am currently leveraging my M.S. in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University for the school and in the community. Narrative medicine is the future of holistic health care, an inspiring combination of arts and science leveraged for the good of exponentially improving the quality of care for people and their caregivers. Everything we do as narrative medicine professionals is for the good of patients as people, beyond charts or statistics. On a macro scale, I consider myself to be a creative problem solver who is comfortable flexing between setting strategy and delivering results. I enjoy collaborating with high-performance teams to assess a group's, agency's or company's current state, envision a better future state, do research, and lead teams to implement systems and ensure growth toward either stabilization or advancement. On a more personal level, I apply narrative competencies of recognition and radical listening to co-create relationships one class at a time, one workshop at a time, one conversation at a time.My professional life has included commitment to both the business and nonprofit arenas, focused on relationships and emotional connections. At Hallmark, a $4B company, I tapped into the hearts and minds of people in today's diverse world, helping them expand their emotional "portfolio" and express sentiments in multiple communication media. I conceptualized, initiated, and led several game-changing initiatives in a highly competitive market and kept the company at the forefront of consumers' choices. On the business scope side of my role, I managed a total budget of $2MM. I collaborated with Marketing, Analytics, Design, and our Supply Chain groups to gain new businesses, leverage profitable opportunities, and shore up or close unprofitable businesses. I placed a dual emphasis on bottom-line and top-line excellence. My project portfolio currently spans health literacy, social justice, narrative medicine pedagogy, and some writing for the arts.
