As Technical Specialist I worked for the Nursing Department as user advocate / liason with ARV's own IT Department and the external vendor of ARV's complex medical records and medication management system (iCare). Much of the work involved researching software issues and using the SQL database to provide internal benchmarking for quality and audit purposes (business intelligence without BI software!). There was a significant second level user support and user training component to the role. A major project was to research Learning Management Systems - over 250 products were reviewed to establish a short list of three. This work was part of the HACC Better Practice Project and included facilitating a weekly meeting with Coordinators on improving communications skills in the client assessment situation.My final role with CCS was as a Service Development Coordinator, effectively a Research and Policy Analyst and Quality Coordinator. The role included a wide range of tasks set by the Directors. For example: “we are considering opening an office in Victoria. Where would be the best location?”. And: “analyse the client assessments from our work with the homeless in Newcastle and Sydney and come up with a set of media talking points for the upcoming Homelessness Conference”. Show less

Over a period of 3 months assertively project managed internal and external relationships and processes to a point where the customer’s relationship with Canon returned to excellent. Carried out a similar task for the IPMG Group.A proposed change of role to Digital Workflow Specialist resulted in my being trained in Canon’s range of software products. I also did business analysis and design and wrote specifications for new products. The role including mentoring, coaching and introducing cultural change to the company.McGovern expected me to move them from ‘home-grown’ software development processes to a more rigorous and professional approach which would support the company’s plans for growth. To achieve this I moved them to a single code base for their key application(s), changed the development philosophy from client-specific modifications to parameter-driven features, implemented a software configuration management system, implemented a formal software quality assurance system and moved from time recording based on spreadsheets to a professional SQL based project time management system. Acted as Director of Sales for 3 months.My role as Senior Consultant included analysis of client needs, producing written consultancy reports giving clients an Internet strategy, development of functional and systems specifications, project estimating, management of development projects and support of the sales team. I managed, mentored and coached internal resources including 6 software developers in both NT and Unix environments. For the hosting part of the business my role included pre- and post- sales technical support to the bid, specification of hardware, preparing quotations and management of implementation projects. My last project involved designing and managing the redevelopment of a major ASP product as a Web Service (SAAS / SOAP) using Microsoft .NET.
