A CNC machine and fabrication shop that primarily supports the the manufacturing of custom aerospace tooling and military equipment. My primary duties include managing and organizing jobs to ensure deadlines, programing CNC machines, designing fixtures for low-medium volume production, training employees on CNC machine operation, quoting potential jobs and more.

I primarily assisted in the manufacturing of custom parts/assemblies for institutional research projects and industry partners of GA Tech. Experience with machine tooling, fixture design for work holding, injection mold design, creating and using working drawing, stacked tolerances, customer interaction, job quoting and more. Formal training in shop safety, CNC technologies/programming, and machining techniques received from experienced machinist/engineer. Experience in working with, programming, and troubleshooting a DMLS machine, along with understanding the underlying technology and process. Responsibilities included: Aiding customers in redesigning parts for manufacturability, developing manufacturing processes (machine(s) to use, tooling, fixturing), CNC programming, operating CNC machines, machine maintenance and more.

During the 2014-2015 school year, I took part in powertrain development where I focused on intake manifold design and optimization using CFD software and dyno tuning/testing. I also managed the rebuilding process of used engines for quality assurance. For the 2015-2016 year, I was chosen to be the Manufacturing Lead where my main responsibilities were managing the six-person manufacturing team, providing machine operation and shop safety training, develop workflow strategies to ensure manufacturing deadlines were met, and working with the other subsystems to ensure design for manufacturability. For the 2016-2017 year, I was chosen to be the Shop Manager (one of three Senior Leadership positions) where my main responsibilities included managing shop space/organization/cleanliness, assisting to develop and maintain a design/manufacture/testing timeline and workflow, as well as managing the outsourcing of part manufacturing and sponsor relations.
