Battery Control System Integration Engineer

Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

In my current role, I take on the exciting challenge of developing, implementing, and validating complex mathematical models and control systems for our cutting-edge battery management system (BMS). My primary focus lies in ensuring seamless documentation and comprehensive understanding of the BMS.As a key member of the team, my specific responsibilities revolve around designing and validating the current limit control algorithm for the next generation BMS. This role encompasses various tasks, starting from defining requirements and designing mathematical control system models to ensuring their implementation and validation using automated model-in-loop test implementations and rigorous systems level testing. In addition to these critical functions, I am also deeply involved in conducting system level testing and fault analysis. My work extends to creating informative systems level diagrams, as well as creating internal and external technical documentation to ensure effective knowledge sharing.

Test Engineering Co-Op

Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

Testing and certifying newly developed products to international marine safety standards. Value adding by providing design input and feedback, while cost effectively certifying products to strict standards. Some of the tests I ran were: vibration certification, IP testing, thermal performance testing, and thermal runaway. During my Co-op I focused on creating vibration jigs for certification testing on equipment ranging from 5 kilograms to several thousand kilograms. The jigs were designed to replicate real world mounting scenarios coupled to various external vibe table designs. The jigs themselves could not cause any major resonances within the system in any axis during testing. This was done in a cost effective manor by utilizing FEA and direct manufacturer communication to produce optimal jigs. They were successfully utilized in vibration testing of multiple different Corvus products.
