As an Accountant, my key responsibilities revolve around preparing financial statements and the disclosure statement for the bank and its subsidiaries along with regulatory and statistical returns for the RBNZ and Statistics NZ respectively. Also involved is managing the month end process from a statutory and group reporting perspective, preparing and processing journals relating to month end adjustments and intra & inter-company eliminations. I am also responsible for performing regular financial, management and regulatory processes for the consolidated bank, subsidiaries and management units. My role also involves performing analysis for management & statutory/regulatory reporting. My other key responsibilities include maintaining the bank’s general chart of accounts along with managing the impact of changes in accounting standards, RBNZ compliance and disclosure requirements on financial & statutory reporting. Furthermore, I am involved in analysing and reporting on inter-company balances of the bank with its parent to substantiate balances and clear mismatches. Along with this, I am also responsible for a range of accounting processes such as performing balance sheet reconciliations, inter-company invoice preparations, and the accounts receivable function for inter-company while also being a contact point for the bank’s parent relating to queries & projects.
