It is important to offer unconditional positive regard in a safe and protected space where children can heal, grow, and build confidence. When working with children, I primarily incorporate child-centered play therapy. Other approaches to therapy include sandtray, expressive art, bibliotherapy, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and family therapy.I have experience supporting clients dealing with issues related to anxiety, self-esteem, learning disabilities, attention deficits, adjustment related disorders, trauma, grief and loss, depression, and autism.My office is equipped with play, art, and sand tray materials to encourage clients to explore and heal through hands-on activity.I also have years of experience as a special education teacher working with children on the autism spectrum, ADHD, and learning disabilities. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, organize and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program based upon the developmental and individual needs of students. Maintain current communication and appropriate resources for stakeholders. Apply legal and ethical standards of the role of the school counselor. Deliver counseling services through classroom instruction, interdisciplinary curriculum, group activities, individual or small group appraisal and advisement, consultation, individual and small group counseling, crisis counseling/response and peer facilitation. Collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and other educational specialists to develop academic, career and personal/social skills for all students. Apply professional training to collect, analyze and interpret and use relevant data to guide student’s academic, social and career achievement. Develop an effective referral and follow up process with in-house support and outside agencies. Provide leadership, intervention and support when crisis counseling is appropriate. Manage the school counseling program through the effective use of calendars, action plans, and management agreements. Devote no less than 60% of their time providing direct services to students with the remaining time devoted to program management, system support and accountability. Collaborate with parents, teachers and administrators to ensure the effective implementation of the school counseling program and reflection of the school goals. Implement data-driven action plans that align with school and comprehensive counseling program goals. Utilize data to perform yearly program audit to evaluate the schools counseling program effectiveness. Collect and use data to direct the program needs and direction.

•Developed and implemented individualized educational programs, prepared lesson plans and held scheduled evaluations for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade learning disabled students in self-contained and inclusion model classrooms.•Consulted and advised regular education teachers on providing appropriate educational accommodations for special needs students.•Actively involved in IEP meetings and eligibility meetings as special education teacher and administrative designee.•Participated in Intervention and Eligibility Meetings.•Administered educational testing and wrote educational reports for eligibilitymeetings. •Certified and taught Herman Reading, Wilson Reading, and Kansas Reading Strategies.•Administered LPT, Stanford 9, and SOL testing to special needs students in accordance with their IEP accommodations.•Assisted in scheduling and placement for special education students.
