Richards was in the Shared Services and Peoplesoft practices at Ernst & Young prior to joining the Microsoft Advanced Development Center, jointly founded my Microsoft and E&Y. At the MS-ADC, Richards was responsible for the Business Architecture discipline as well as a Development Manager.

Richards started as a Programmer Analyst in the Payroll/HR application area and through the years progressed to the position of Applications Supervisor for all the Financial Applicatons for Paccar including, Payroll, HR, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Chassis Cost of Sales, Labor Accounting, Accounts Payable and several other ancillary systems. After nearly 5 years as Supervisor of the Group, Richards was asked to be the technical lead on the Payoll/HR replacement project.
