Dr. Das is Senior Consultant at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati, Assam, INDIA in the department of Ocular Pathology, Uveitis & Neuro-Ophthalmology Services. Having completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Guwahati Medical College, Assam; India he went on to complete his fellowship in General Ophthalmology at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya. He further had done fellowship in Ocular Pathology at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, India under Dr. Jyotirmay Biswas and Dr. S. Krishnakumar and fellowship in Uvea under Dr. Biswas in 2001-2002.He passed ICO Basic Science course in 2003.He won the Best Scientific paper award (First Dr. K R Dutta Award) for 2004 in Ophthalmological Society of Assam meet, Guwahati, India on his paper entitled “CMV Retinitis: First case report in North East India”. Next subsequent year, he also won best paper in Uvea and Glaucoma section at the 37th OSA meet at Nagaon, Assam India for the free paper “Atypical Ocular Toxoplasmosis”. He was also co-author in 3 best scientific posters in state ophthalmic conference.1n 2014, he received best scientific poster award in Uveitis Society Meet at New-Delhi, India for his poster on ” Parasitic uveitis”. He has over 38 peer reviewed publications, more than 100 national & international presentations and is a member of several state and national level ophthalmology and pathology organizations.He has described a new rosette in retinoblastoma, a childhood intraocular tumour. He is reviewer of various ophthalmic journals and honorary associate in editorial board of “Eye Brain” under Dove publications. For past few years, he is the reviewer of AIOC-Instruction course/ free papers/ posters for ophthalmic pathology section. In 2010-11, he had completed 6 months observership in inflammation, uveitis and ophthalmic pathology from Doheny Eye Institute (University of Southern California), Los Angeles, USA under Prof. Narsing A Rao.
