At Ritual I had the opportunity to work in a fast paced environment, learn about data engineering techniques and DevOps practices. I aided in the design and development of a machine learning service deployment pipeline, making use of Python, Kubernetes, and Gitlab. I improved the internal Python package upload script to automatically upload new and updated packages. Further, I added Python3 project compatibility to the existing service deployment infrastructure. I also had the opportunity to work with BigQuery to analyze datasets to improve a location based service.

Kitchener, Canada Area

At Sortable I had an incredible opportunity to learn about the AdOps industry and header bidding, as well as distributed data processing. Using Spark and Scala I created scripts to process and interpret large datasets. These scripts varied from pulling bidder data (Facebook, Index Exchange, etc.) from their respective APIs and aggregating it to compare against Sortable's own reporting, to analyzing a rules database and generating quantitative recommendations for simplification or amalgamation of rules. Further, I consulted directly with a potential bidder client to facilitate and troubleshoot their integration with Sortable.

Waterloo, Ontario

I was the primary liaison for external organizations related to undergraduate engineering students such as PEO and OSPE. I also represented the students interests at provincial Engineering Student Societies' Council of Ontario, ESSCO, conferences and national Canadian Federation of Engineering Students, CFES, conferences. These affiliations gave me the opportunity to network with students as well as industry professionals across Canada. In addition, I created the budgets for conferences and student competitions. My internal role as VP Communication involved managing teams for social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Mailchimp) and marketing (Posters and Graphics). During my time, I created a survey for the undergraduate engineering students to determine which ways they preferred to receive news and communications from the society. I also created the branding guidelines for the society so that consistency was maintained to eventually generate an overall voice and style for the society.

Waterloo, Ontario

During my time at Validus Research, I worked on front end features in AngularJS, back end features in Python, database features in SQL, and I gained exposure to C# API integration. The main feature I developed was an Excel report generator. Given the technical requirements for a Data Quality Model report as well as a simple mock-up, I utilized Flask, SQLAlchemy, and openpyxl to pull required data from the SQL servers, perform statistical analysis, generate graphs, and format all necessary data. All of this was also made viewable in the Web UI with AngularJS. I also developed other minor features, and added various UI changes.

Markham

At Microdea Inc., I designed and created a client facing document annotation feature for the new HTML5 iteration of Microdea's flagship application. This involved developing with AngularJS, Typescript, and LESS. I also implemented a pipeline to translate between the annotation data structure of the HTML5 Client and the legacy Java Applet. I began my term at the company by developing unit tests for the existing Single Page Application framework, written in C#, and Driver Recruitment, one of the company's applications, written in AngularJS and Typescript.

Toronto

At Shared Service Canada, I optimized the DNS server by cleaning up outdated records. I then set up scavenging for automated clean up of outdated records. In addition, I led the terminal server set up by gathering specs, updating firmware, and installing the OS and required software. I also provided technical support in network management and administration. During my time at SSC I became familiar with networking interfaces and protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS servers, and DHCP.

At the YMCA, I worked as a swimming instructor developing my communication skills, creating detailed lesson plans, and adapting teaching techniques to students at various levels. As a lifeguard, I worked to respond quickly and effectively in many situations through vigilance and concise communication.
