Since the early 90's I have been working as a professional DJ, specializing in selecting music for various events and music platforms. With an extensive knowledge and love for music, I have spent most of my life cultivating a collection of diverse genres including rock, jazz, funk, reggae, disco, and hip-hop, and I am skilled at tailoring music to the audience, from school dances, to weddings, to underground hip-hop crowds. My industry experience includes FM radio, tour DJ, club residencies, online radio programming, hosting/interviewing, podcasting, event organizing and promotion, music production, performance, self-publishing, artwork and graphic design, as well as volunteering for school and community events. My creativity is expressed through making moods with beats and sounds, painting, drawing, and blending songs together in a mix to tell a story or convey emotion. I have DJ'd events across the Midwest (Omaha Jazz Festival, First Ave. Club, Minneapolis, Iowa City Downtown Concert Series, University of Iowa Riverfest); Lyon, France; Eindhoven, Netherlands (Beat Oven); and across Southern California from block parties to festival stages.I have recorded and performed with live bands (Rage Area, Soul Scribes, Calvin Banks and the Tellers) at the California Music Festival (Ventura, CA), New Noise Music Festival (Santa Barbara, CA) and Hollywood venues including House of Blues, Viper Room, Key Club, the Whiskey a GoGo, The Speakeasy and the Whaler (Venice Beach), Harvelle's and Zanzibar (Santa Monica) and many more from the San Fernando Valley to the South Bay. I am a Girldad, and have been voted "Best Dad Ever" 14 straight years so far. I regularly volunteer as a DJ for school events and as a teacher's aide in the classroom.I enjoy cycling, hiking, camping, surfing, skiing, ultimate frisbee, and I enjoy attending sporting events from the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers, LA Sparks, LA Kings, MLS, University of Iowa men's and women's basketball, wrestling, field hockey, football, and swimming.
