During my time at CEL I was able to work as a Resident Inspector on two large scale projects. My first one was the Google Charleston East Project from November of 2018 to November of 2022. I started as an apprentice here and this is where I was able to learn on the job and gain all of my ICC certifications and put every single one of them to use. After two years, I became the concrete lead, and was responsible for overseeing the majority of reinforced concrete work on this 595,000 square foot project. I verified the installation and reinforcement of piles, slab on grade, columns, shear walls, and elevated slab on metal deck concrete. Towards the end of the project when it was just me and the steel lead, I got more involved in the inspecting of welds and structural steel/bolting. The time I spent on this project left me feeling like a well rounded and experience Inspector.The most recent job I completed as a Resident Inspector in 2024 was the new Intuitive Surgical manufacturing and R&D building as well as their parking garage. The building consisted of 1.2 million square feet for manufacturing/R&D and office space. This building comprised of a deep and complex mat foundation and very tall walls. Here I helped with reinforced concrete work from the bottom all the way up to the roof where the upper levels consisted of slab on metal deck with columns and shear walls throughout. On the other side of the project I lead the inspection on a 5 level, 540,000 square foot garage and Central Utility Plant that comprised of shear walls, columns, and a post tensioned deck.

I was in charge of taking care of the day to day operations as well as maintaining roads, irrigation systems, and structural upkeep.

San Francisco Bay Area

When I was with RGW, I was a laborer, but took parts in all aspects of the process. The most notable project that I took part in was the connection bridge from highway 160 right after the Rio Vista bridge to Highway 4 East. Here I started with the bridge footings, helping install the rebar cages, followed by the chipping of the overpour. A lot of time was spent helping the crew installing rebar and pouring concrete. The time I spent here was highly valuable in constructing a solid foundation in the construction world.
