Profile bio

About David Villegas, Ph.D.

I am a professional with over 10 years of experience in mixed-methods research and program evaluation within the fields of education and public health. I earned by Ph.D. in Behavioral Science at the University of Rhode Island where I completed extensive coursework in research design and quantitative methods including but not limited to applied statistics, measurement development, and longitudinal data modeling. While completing my doctoral degree I worked as a Research Assistant within the Center for Population Health and Clinical Epidemiology at Brown University (2010-2013) where I evaluated the State of Rhode Island’s efforts to reduce hospitalizations due to heart disease and stroke and as Associate Director for Evaluation and IT Systems with The College Crusade of Rhode Island (2013-2016) where I directed data collection efforts for the organization and led evaluation efforts for over 60 academic enrichment, social and personal development, career awareness, and post-secondary preparation programs available to Rhode Island’s low-income middle and high school students. In 2016, I left The College Crusade to join the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE), first as an Associate Research Analyst but ending my tenure as Manager of Research, Evaluation and Planning. There, I continued to build my strengths in research and evaluation while advancing the office’s strategic planning, early care and education, professional learning, and student support initiatives. I conducted state and federally mandated community-based needs assessments for the Local Early Education Planning Council and Head Start and led ongoing evaluation efforts for multiple grant-funded projects. Now Manager of Assessment and Evaluation with Visions in Education, I have the pleasure of leading student state and local assessment and reporting efforts for approximately 7,000 students across a nine-county service area. This is an exciting new venture for me to serve an organization that prepares primary and secondary students for success in a rapidly changing world, through innovative home study, independent online, and university preparation programs. Impact statement to follow.

Listed skills include Spss, Statistics, Research Design, Research, and 15 others.
